Trust English School is one of the main companies providing English education in Caxias do Sul, a half-million habitants city in the south of Brazil.
Dzi design was hired to redesign the previous Trust logo, which had so many design elements and colours, making it harder to print and use the logo in small and/or digital applications. We started the process investigating what is the visual elements used by other english schools in the region. At the same time that we wanted our design to be different, it needed to ‘fit’ a certain visual language used in the language education business.
By observing other competitors, we noted the recurrent use of the colours Blue and Red and all-caps text. The colours make a clear reference to the American and British flags, while the all-caps demonstrated a sense of tradition and solidness by the english schools.
We started developing concepts that would bring the ideas of communication, teaching, conversation, among other similar topics. We explored different visual paths (below) and discussed with the client the most appropriate route to develop further.
The final result came from using the ‘ symbol, as a universal symbol of communication and speech. We also opted for a clear, all-caps and bold typeface, emphasising the solidness and long tradition of the company in the market of English teaching.
